The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs is seat of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs. The latter is the superior authority that assists the President in the scope of his/her competence and is responsible for the administrative and economic progress of the University, in accordance with the policies on these matters set forth by the President and the Superior Council, and the regulations in force.

The Executive Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs is formed by the Head Office of Finance, the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Land, Buildings and Real Estates, the Office of Information Technology, and the Office of Services and Administration.

In turn, the Head Office of Finance is the authority responsible for the efficient operation of the administrative service units under its authority: The Office of Budget, the Office of Finance and the University Credit Solidarity Fund.

About the Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs

Mathematical Civil Engineer from the University of Chile (2001) and PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Université d’Avignon, France (2004). Since 2007 he has been an academic in the Department of Mathematics at UTFSM where he is an associate professor. During the last few years he has been an associate researcher at the Center for Mathematical Modeling. His specialization is the analysis, control and optimization of biological processes with applications to the sustainable management of fisheries, operation of bioreactors and epidemiological control. He is currently an Associate Editor of the journals Set-Valued and Variational Analysis, Natural Resource Modeling, and Environmental Modeling & Assessment. Between 2011 and 2014 he was Vice Chancellor for Economic and Administrative Affairs of the UTFSM and in the period 2015-2017 Director of the Department of Mathematics at the same Institution. From 2017 to 2018 he was Secretary of the Mathematics of Planet Earth initiative of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) of the United States.
