The Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria has a direct admission route for its technical university study programs, whose objective is to promote access and articulation towards higher education.
In this admission route, there is no minimum score required in the Transition Test for University Admission to access the university technical programs offered by the University.
Requirements
Being graduated from High School in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 or 2017 or weighted score* over 500 points in the University Selection Test of the current or previous years.
- High School Grades (HSG) equal or higher than 5.0 (scale 1 to 7) or weighted score (*) over 500 points in the University Selection Test of the current or previous years.
- Valid Identity Card or Passport.
- Optional University Admission Transition Test*
*The Direct Admission does not require a University Admission Transition Test for its Technical University study programs; however, it is recommended to take the test in order to qualify for different ministerial benefits.
Weighted scores consider: 30% HSG; 20% of the grade ranking; 30% Mathematics Test Score; 10% Reading Comprehension Test Score; 10% Science or History and Social Sciences Test Score.

Dates of Admission Process
- From September 20 at admision.usm.cl
Documentation for Enrollment
- Photocopy of valid identity card or passport.
- High School Grades Certificate in original (signed and stamped by the school) or a notarized copy.
- High school diploma or notarized copy. In the case of 2020 graduates, they can submit this document until December 20th.
- Applicants to the University Technician in Aeronautical Maintenance program must present a certificado médico general.
Important note: Vacancies for Direct Admission to University Technical study programs are limited and are established according to the regulations set by the USM for this purpose.
Articulation
The USM comprehensively addresses all levels of training in the Higher Education system, i.e., it has an integrated route that ranges from technical university programs, through professional careers to master’s and doctoral degrees in response to the implementation of the new Higher Education Law and specifically its articles 108 and 109, which promote articulation in related areas of knowledge.
