The Office of Students Affairs of the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria contributes to the integral formation of its students at each of its campuses and sites. The USM provides psychosocial support, assistance and encouragement, with the objective of favoring their formation during their university life through the following programs:

Inclusion Program

This program accompanies and supports those with special educational needs in order to create an inclusive, collaborative and articulated institutional culture that provides all students with conditions of equity and equal opportunities. Currently, our University focuses on the following areas of inclusion: visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical disability and autism spectrum disorder.

Punto de Encuentro Program

Punto de Encuentro Program

This program is aimed at providing tools to enhance the quality of life of our students and develop their competencies, thus enabling their integral formation. Its lines of action are time management, emotional intelligence and self-knowledge and self-care during university life.

Gender Equity Program

Gender Equity Program

This program promotes gender equity within our University, in addition to providing support within the framework of the Protocol for the Prevention and Punishment of Sexual Harassment, Discrimination and Gender Violence. Its lines of action are the introduction to the gender perspective, history of feminism, gender violence and sexual harassment, gender discrimination and sexual diversity, and institutional regulations towards gender equity.

Socioeconomic Support Program

Socioeconomic Support Program

The Office of Student Welfare is made up of a team of social workers who provide timely information on scholarships and benefits to which students of our university can apply. They also advise students and manage different procedures so that they can access this support program throughout their university life.

The Primary Health Care Service has a multidisciplinary team that provides guidance and attention to the needs of our students. Currently, it is integrated by medical, dental, psychological, kinesics and first aid professionals.

Academic Student Initiatives Program (PIE>A)

This program provides students with the necessary support to develop their projects, thus contributing to the culture of creativity, innovation and creation at the undergraduate level in our University. For this purpose, this initiative has three main areas: Competitive Funds, Student Initiatives and InnovaLab-PIE>A.

Sports

Our University promotes and develops physical activity and sports programs, maintaining a formative tradition that was conceived and incorporated since its foundation. The Physical Education and Sports courses are part of the curricular plans of the careers that it imparts. In addition, each student can voluntarily join a sports branch, whose selection represents USM in different disciplines, both regionally and nationally.

Culture

Culture

Our University brings its students closer to a diverse cultural environment, which strengthens the development of their integral formation. Among its main activities are the Artistic Season and the Chamber Art Cycle, as well as visual arts exhibitions and film cycles. Those who wish to participate in cultural development activities can join the Chamber Choir, the Student Orchestra or the University Tuna (student music group), among other initiatives.

Student exchange

Student exchange

The Office of International Affairs (OAI) supports and promotes the development of innovative academic experiences through student exchange, thus enhancing complementary skills to their training. In this way, undergraduate and graduate students can take one or more semesters abroad, either for courses, internships or to develop their thesis work. It is worth mentioning that the USM maintains cooperation and exchange agreements with more than 125 foreign universities and institutes.

International Institute for Entrepreneurial Innovation (3IE-USM)

The 3IE develops initiatives of entrepreneurship and innovation, serving as a liaison with the various entities that work in the field of economy and new technologies. The University's students receive preferential attention and have access to economic benefits that support them in the creation of technology-based companies with high growth potential.

Taking into account the diversity of its students, the USM makes permanent efforts to integrate them and level their competencies, so that the teaching-learning process is effective for all. Likewise, our University offers academic support services for its students, making available both bibliographic and technological resources.

Integrated Learning Center in Basic Sciences (CIAC)

The CIAC provides academic and personal development support to students during their first year. Its facilities are located on the USM campuses, representing a highly available center, with professionals and tutors, who support them to overcome their learning difficulties.

USM Library Network

USM Library Network

The USM Library Network seeks to facilitate access to reading and learning for its users, in addition to supporting the development of teaching, research and extension activities. Currently, it has 7100 m2 of infrastructure, with more than 1400 study stations distributed in campuses; supported and integrated through the Electronic Catalog and the automated loan of books. In addition, it has specialized staff to support students and professors in the search, access and use of information.

Technology Services

Technology Services

Through the Office of Computer and Information Technology (DTI), our University provides services such as the leasing of computers to academically outstanding students and Wi-Fi networks that allow wireless Internet access in all its campuses, as well as e-mail boxes. It also has agreements on technologies and software licenses, laboratories, fully equipped computer rooms and specialization courses in different areas.
