Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María

USM History Video

“From Shadow to Light: History of a Legacy” portrays the history of the great dream of Federico Santa Maria Carrera, which in 1931 became a reality with the birth of the education center that bears his name and that initially oriented its work to the teaching of engineering and technical specialties, currently providing its students with training at the highest level in the areas of technology and innovation.

This video also addresses the different aspects that characterize the institutional culture, such as the vocation for excellence, the promotion of sports and its integral vision of education, aspects that have positioned our institution as one of the most important universities in Chile and Latin America.

It also reports on its history and growth as an institution present in different regions of the country, through the Main Campus in Valparaíso, San Joaquin Campus and Vitacura Campus, together with the Viña del Mar and Concepción campuses.

The video, which mixes period recreations and images from the USM archive, shows how the University has evolved without losing sight of the dream and mission entrusted by its founder, Federico Santa Maria Carrera, to train deserving students with excellence so that they can contribute to the country’s development.
